Twyla Nova is an artist working primarily in photographic arts. While at the University of Iowa she earned undergraduate degrees in Environmental Studies and Photography. She continued her education at Texas Woman’s University, where she completed an MFA in Photography.
Currently, she is Assistant Professor of Photography at the Art Institute of Dallas in the Media Arts Department while pursuing a PhD in Aesthetic Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Her art includes film, digital, alternative processes, bookmaking, and sculpture with a focus on the exploration of nature including representations of nature, environmental issues, and more specifically the complex relationship between humans and the natural world.
